A few weeks ago, we told you about CBS negotiating with Yahoo! to rebrand TV magazine show The Insider as omg! Insider, which is Yahoo!'s (?) daily online news series.
Current Insider hosts Kevin Frazier and Brooke Anderson will remain as hosts and be joined by Yahoo! talent Kristen Aldridge and Michael Yo. The revamped series will begin airing in January 2013.
The redone show is an attempt to create a “multiplatform entertainment magazine,” read the official announcement, adding that it will be “a true web and on-air collaboration that aims to reinvent how consumers access entertainment news across screens.”
omg! Now is Yahoo's entertainment news site and will be the exclusive home for video from the TV show. It will include photos, celebrity interviews, editorial content and brand new interactive features.
Joe DiSalvo, President of Sales for CBS Television Distribution, said, “We’re adding value to The Insider by tapping into an online audience in the millions and taking advantage of Yahoo!’s omg! brand and its loyal following. Our stations will also get an unparalleled promotional opportunity online. This is the perfect example of what the convergence of broadcast and digital is all about.”
Marissa Mayer, the newly appointed CEO of Yahoo!, added that “Yahoo! is focused on bringing the most personalized and relevant information to our users. Original video content and branded multi-screen programming help us to deliver on that promise. We're proud to collaborate with CBS Television Distribution to bring omg! Insider to millions of viewers in such a unique and exciting way.”
