bin Laden TV film becoming more "Obama-fied"

Harvey Weinstein bought the U.S. rights to SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden, a book that documented the historic raid that ended the terrorist leader's life, earlier this year.  The completed film is scheduled to air on TV November 4, two days before the presidential election between President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney.

Weinstein is a major Obama supporter. As such, he is having the film adjusted, to display Obama's actions more during the film. According to a New York Times report, Weinstein has had the film recut to add more archival footage of the president.

There has already been criticism that the film is politically motivated and with this news that is hard to argue with. The National Geographic Channel is airing the film and has claimed that the date is just a coincidence. I will let you make your judgment on that - there are 52 Sundays in a year through and only one happens to fall two days before the election.

Mind you, I do not see anything wrong with this decision. President Obama gave the operation the green light, the National Geographic Channel and Weinstein want to make money, and there are many Conservatives who will tell you that Obama had nothing to do with the operation and that former president George W. Bush deserves as much credit as Obama. A little truthful counterprograming never hurt anyone, right?

The film will be available on Netflix instant streaming the following day.
