With the premiere of the new season set for tonight, Zap2it spoke to the show's new host, former model and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Carolyn Murphy.
Much like the spring season, the latest effort brings back the talents from seasons past once again for another season of All Stars. Murphy admits that seeing the familiar faces provoked a bit of an emotional response. "I was a fan of 'Project Runway' and have been for years," Murphy admits. "Being a mother and who I am as a person, I did feel an attachment to designers from previous seasons."
After an initial starstruck period of meeting show mainstays Heidi Klum and Isaac Mizrahi, the new host says the new season turned out to be quite a treat for herself and, she hopes, for viewers. "I'm feeling really good about it. We taped a couple of months ago and it was so much fun. I know that's kind of a lame word to use, but it really was a thrill to get up every day and go to so-called work," Murphy said.
In the past, the series has pulled fashion's elite in as guest judges. This year, expect much of the same, as well as more mainstream names like Katie Holmes. "[Holmes] came the day after she announced her divorce," Murphy said. "She was so professional; she was such a lady. We were afraid that she wasn't going to show up."
Don't expect the demure actress to keep mum, either. "She did speak and she did critique. She was really good -- she knows what she's talking about," Murphy continued, citing Holmes' own denim line of clothing.
