Cybill Shepherd is returning to TV this fall, joining Jennifer Love Hewitt to reprise roles played in the 2010 film “The Client List.” The movie follows the life of a lonely housewife in conservative Texas who takes a job at a day spa, only to find it is a brothel. To help with her own financial problems, she too becomes a prostitute. The housewife is played by Hewitt, while Shepherd signed on to play Hewitt’s mother.
Lifetime ordered 10 hour-long episodes of “The Client List” from Sony in July to air this fall after the made-for-tv movie was such a success. The film not only opened the eyes of financial problems in America, but what people are doing to keep their homes and food on the table. This is the first non-guest role Shepherd signed on for since the 1990s sitcom, “Cybill.”
Shepherd isn’t the only star returning to TV. Liza Minnelli signed on for a guest role on TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland.” Minnelli will play Victoria Chase’s agent, looking to help her boost her career. Minnelli is most famous for her Broadway roles, including “Cabaret,” but also played memorable roles as Lucille 2 in Fox’s cult comedy “Arrested Development.”
As of late, the recovering addict made headlines while reaching out to troubled Lindsay Lohan. She told the press that she feels bad for Lohan going through the struggle of overcoming addiction. Minnelli will appear on “Hot in Cleveland” during February sweeps.
