Damn you, Hurricane Sandy!
Comedy Central announced that The Daily Show and The Colbert Report will not tape episodes today, as Hurricane Sandy continues to unleash hell on the eastern coast of the United States. But, how are we supposed to know what to think, Comedy Central, without our standard-bearers?
The comedies will air re-runs instead. The status of the shows for Tuesday night has not been decided at this point.
Earlier in the day, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which is taping this week from Brooklyn, cancelled its taping today. Scripted series in Brooklyn and across New York City have pulled the plug on taping today - a really good idea, as this storm looks like it is going to cause some serious damage.
At this point, Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman will be shooting their shows, but without studio audiences.
Forecasters are predicting that the storm will make landfall near Southern New Jersey sometime this evening. Already areas in Virginia are reporting heavy flooding and power lines have fallen. An estimated 50 million Americans are threatened by this storm, with some experts predicting that it will cause more destruction and harm than Hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans and Louisiana in 2005.
