ABC apparently wants more “Scandal” and “Neighbors.”

The network gave full season orders to both programs.
“The Neighbors” stars Jami Gertz and Lenny Venito as a couple living in a community full of aliens pretending to be humans. The show has been a modest success for ABC on Wednesdays.
Gertz is perhaps best known for appearing on 1980s comedy “Square Pegs” with Sarah Jessica Parker.
The fate of freshman drama “Nashville,” which stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere as country singers, is still to be determined. “666 Park Avenue” and “Last Resort” were given script orders earlier in the month.
“Scandal’s” sophomore season grew from 13 to 22 episodes. It is a Kerry Washington political fixer drama that has held steady with a 2.0 rating among 18-49 year old adults. “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Shonda Rhimes created “Scandal.”
ABC has also ordered additional episodes of “Castle,” “The Middle” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” “Private Practice,” Rhimes’ third ABC series, will be finished following its initial 13 episodes for this season.
“Scandal” airs at 10 p.m. Thursdays (though this week the Country Music Association Awards will air instead). “The Neighbors” is on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. as part of ABC’s successful comedy block.
YES. The Neighbors is the funniest and most creative new comedy to come along in a while. Glad it's finding an audience and being given a chance. Fantastic news!
