Brendan Fraser leaves 'Legends'

Rest in peace, Brendan Fraser's TV career, 2012-2012. Most famous for his legendary work in Encino Man (wait, is that just me?) and The Mummy film franchise, Fraser was scheduled to star on TNT's forthcoming drama Legends, being created by Howard Gordon.

But apparently Fraser and Gordon had a failure to communicate, as creative differences have led to Fraser bailing on the project. He was going to play an undercover operative named Martin Odum, who had the ability to transform into a different person for every job that he was assigned. There is no truth to the rumor that Optimus Prime will be replacing him.

"Brendan is an incredible actor  and we have wanted to work with him for a very long time," Fox 21 president Bert Salke said. "While this particular project may not have been the right fit, we are excited to develop cable properties with him that will showcase his amazing talent."

Fraser is still talking to Fox 21 about a development deal. So maybe the TV candle isn't totally out.

Legends will recast the role and head forward. I like Fraser and always wonder why he does not get more work. Hopefully he can land back on his feet, and avoid any more terrible Mummy sequels.
