It's a shame that a generation of people know Eugene Levy only as Jim's Dad in the American Pie franchise. Not that there is anything wrong with his work in that series (as he has been pretty consistently good in it), but his work with Christopher Guest definitely needs to be seen. He is one of those guys who always brings a smile to my face when I see him in a film, such as his cameo in Serendipity. Luckily, I never saw The Man, so I can praise him across the board.
Now Levy, already honored in his homeland of Canada with the Order of Canada (the second-highest honor for merit), is returning home to guest star in the Canadian comedy Package Deal.
Levy will appear in three episodes as serial-husband whose wives end up dying, in mysterious manners. This proves a difficult thing to overcome for his lawyer, series lead Randall Edwards. Package Deal focuses on three close brothers and the women who complicate their lives.
The comedy also stars Julia Voth, Harland Williams (HOLY CRAP, I wondered where that guy was) and Jay Malone.
Citytv has ordered 13 episodes of the series, with an intended air date of 2013.
