“Elementary” will air on CBS following Super Bowl XLVII.
The Jonny Lee Miller/ Lucy Liu freshman drama will air Feb. 3, 2013, at 7 p.m. PST/ 10 p.m. EST after postgame coverage. The show is a contemporary update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories, with Miller as Holmes and Liu as Watson.
The show recently received an order for a full season, and averages 14.5 million viewers.
The second season premiere of “The Voice” aired on NBC after this year’s Super Bowl. Over 37 million total viewers tuned in, with 16.3 million in the 18-49 adults demographic.
Fox aired a football-themed special episode of “Glee” in 2011, and CBS launched “Undercover Boss” in 2010.
“The Office,” “House MD,” “Criminal Minds” “Survivor” and “Grey’s Anatomy” have also aired in the coveted time slot.
Beyonce will perform during the big game’s halftime show. Super Bowl XLVII takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
This year Madonna, Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A. performed at halftime. The game drew 111.3 million viewers according to Nielsen, making it the most watched TV program ever in the U.S.
“Elementary” normally airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
