This Friday: 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome' premieres online

Blood and ChromeGood news for Sci-Fi fans: the long-anticipated prequel to 'Battlestar Galactica' has very nearly arrived. The prequel, 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome' was conceived as a two-hour pilot for a television series, but alas, it was never picked up. To ensure the pilot doesn't go to waste, 'Blood and Chrome' will now be released as ten brief webisodes on Machinima Prime

November 9th brings the launch of the new web series, with the subsequent episodes to be released over the following four weeks. The original pilot will be airing in its complete two-hour format on Syfy in early 2013.

Fans of 'Battlestar Galactica' will undoubtedly be excited to see the early adventures of Commander William Adama, played by Edward James Olmos ('Dexter') for seventy-three episodes in the 2000s. Young Luke PasqualinoAdama, not yet a Commander, will be played by Luke Pasqualino in the Machinima series, known for his recurring appearances on series like 'Skins' and 'The Borgias.'

Adama was played by Olmos as a war-weary, battle-hardened man with a deep strength of character. A gruff and mysterious individual, I wonder if 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome' will fall victim to similar criticisms levied against the 'Star Wars' universe when they revealed the youth of Boba Fett, or against Marvel Comics when they spilled the beans regarding Wolverine's mysterious past. Presumably, 'Blood and Chrome' will offer a glimpse at how Adama became the man we knew him to be in the earlier program.

Check out the impressive trailer for 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome' and tune in... er... type in to Machinima Prime on Friday!

I love the fact that they are bringing out another Battlestar Galactica series and hated that the other one was canceled, it seems like there are not enough techies out there to sustain a good sifi series for any lenght of time but I hope this will do well.
