Kathy Griffin is no stranger to Bravo network. The comedian filmed over 13 comedy specials over the years, and even starred in her own reality show, “My Life on the D-List.” Bravo confirmed they are expanding their relationship with Griffin due to her popularity. Starting this spring, Griffin will host a pop culture chat show every week night.
“Kathy” is a show that can be described as The Tonight Show meets Chelsea Handler. According to Bravo’s execs, “Kathy” will be a dish on tabloid news with comedy stand up routines, celebrity interviews and pre-recorded segments. Bravo explained at the winter TV preview party over the weekend that talk shows are their new priority. This style of chat show brings together a popular comedian with a format that is currently working for the network. Griffin can thank shows like “What Happens Live” that is so successful it’s also airing five nights a week now.
“Kathy” will premiere this spring, among a number of other new Bravo shows. “Shahs of Sunset” is a new Ryan Seacrest-produced show that will also premiere this spring. It’s a “Persian version” of the popular MTV reality show Jersey Shore, but follows a group of Persians who live in Los Angeles. “Interio Therapy With Jeff Lewis” will join the line up as well, helping a slew of viewers with interior decorating disasters. The spin-off “Million Dollar Listing New York” is set to premiere as well, taking viewers into the most expensive New York real estate. One of the most anticipated series is “Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding,” a look inside the wedding of Atlanta Falcon Kroy Biermann and Kim Zolciak.
“Inside the Actors Studio” returns Jan. 31 with George Clooney opening up about his career, and the cast of “Glee” is scheduled for later in the season.
