The Queen of Broadway is ready to Smash!
Liza Minnelli, the daughter of film legend Judy Garland and an Oscar, Golden Globe, Tony and Emmy winner, has been added to the second season of NBC's Smash. She will be appearing in an episode this spring playing herself. During her appearance, she will perform an original song with Smash co-star Christian Borle.
"Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multitalented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway," said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt. "So what could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades? I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special Liza With a Z at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”
Minnelli famously stared in Cabaret and the original Arthur. She joins a jam-packed guest star roster for the second season of Smash, with Bernadette Peters, Hairsprays Nikki Blonsky, Jesse L. Martin, Jennifer Hudson and Sean Hayes already announced.
Smash returns on Tuesday, February 5 at 9 p.m. It will return to its original 10 p.m. time slot the following week.
