Now that HBO's True Blood has moved on from the love triangle that was the core of the show for the first few seasons, it's time for a new man in Sookie Stackhouse's life. That man—actually, a faerie—will be played by British actor Rob Kazinsky.
Joining the cast as a series regular in the sixth season, Kazinsky will portray a highly charismatic faerie by the name of Ben. While helping Sookie (Anna Paquin) and her brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten) investigate the mystery surrounding the murder of their parents, Ben develops a romantic interest in Sookie that she reciprocates. Season 6 of True Blood is scheduled to premiere in June.
Relatively unknown to American audiences, Kazinsky starred in the ninth season of Sky One's football drama Dream Team and had a long-running role on the BBC soap opera EastEnders. After he left EastEnders, Kazinsky announced his intentions of pursuing an apprenticeship as a mechanic, but he went on to appear in a two-episode story arc as a doctor on ABC's Brothers & Sisters. In addition to his role in the 2011 film Red Tails, Kazinsky was also cast as the dwarf Fili when director Guillermo Del Toro was set to helm the film adaptation of The Hobbit, but he dropped out due to personal reasons. Currently, Kazinsky is filming the movie Pacific Rim, directed by Del Toro.
I can't be the only fan of True Blood who was sick to death of the Bill/Sookie/Eric love triangle and was glad to see it over last season. With the casting of a new love interest, this is a great sign that the show has completely moved past that. Could Ben finally be the man--er, faerie--for Sookie?
