NBC “hearts” Eddie Izzard.

The star of “Valkyrie” and “The Riches” is coming to Bryan Fuller’s NBC thriller “Hannibal” as a guest star soon.
He will guest star as an inmate at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. That is also the facility where the show’s namesake Dr. Lecter was eventually incarcerated.
Izzard’s character claims to be “the infamous Chesapeake Ripper” in the show.
Izzard also recently appeared in another NBC/ Fuller project, “Mockingbird Lane,” as Grandpa Munster. “Mockingbird Lane,” an update of "The Munsters," was used as a Halloween special, after not being picked up as a series.
“Hannibal” is reportedly a love story told across at least seven series and will be set in the early days of special agent Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) and Lecter’s (played by Mads Mikkelsen) partnership.
Gina Torres (“Suits”), Molly Shannon (“Saturday Night Live”), Ellen Greene (“Pushing Daisies”) and Chelan Simmons and Lara Jean Chorostecki (both from “Wonderfalls”) have also been announced as appearing on “Hannibal.”
Torres will play the wife of Jack Crawford, who is played by her real-life husband Laurence Fishburne.
“Hannibal,” which is expected to be a midseason release, does not yet have a premiere date.
