'Arrow' casts 'The League' star for recurring role

"Arrow" fans, get ready to unleash the ultimate Shiva Blast.

Producers of the popular new CW series have confirmed that The Shiva herself, Janina Gavankar, has been cast in a multi-episode arc.

The gorgeous actress will portray McKenna Hall, a vice cop with Starling City's police department, who may have a complicated history with pre-Purgatory Oliver Queen, back when he was a spoiled womanizing billionaire. Working Vice for years, McKenna is described as tough, sexy and considerably formidable, and she will be the first to come across a sketchy new drug dubbed 'Vertigo' after it hits the streets. The 'Vertigo' storyline will also serve to introduce Queen's toughest nemesis yet from the "Green Arrow" comics, portrayed by "Fringe" actor Seth Gabel. Something tells me with the relationship between Tommy Merlyn and Laurel Lance heating up, Oliver will need a love interest at least for the time being.

Gavankar has had numerous notable roles in several series, including being the namesake for FX's "The League" gang's ultimate prize: The Shiva Bowl. She also played Papi on Showtime's "The L Word" series and a role as shapeshifter Luna on some show called "True Blood" which I'm told is fairly popular these days.
