An Oscar winner is heading back to “Saturday Night Live” before the end of 2012.
Jamie Foxx will host the Dec. 8 episode of the show, NBC announced yesterday. Ne-yo will be the musical guest.
Foxx hosted just one other time, way back in the year 2000. On it, there was a sketch where cast member Tracy Morgan was pleased that Foxx, a black actor, was that week’s host, and he ordered around show creator Lorne Michaels. The skit has been reused on “best of” SNL episodes.
Fox was a cast member of skit comedy show “In Living Color,” and also his own sitcom, “The Jamie Foxx Show.” He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance of Ray Charles in the move “Ray” in 2004. He has also had success in music, appearing on Kanye West’s hit record “Gold Digger.”
His next film appearance is in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained,” which comes out in theaters on Christmas Day. It has also been rumored that the actor will play Spiderman villain Electro in “The Amazing Spiderman 2.”
NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” airs at 11:30 p.m. ET. Jeremy Renner hosted the Nov. 17 episode, and Maroon 5 were the musical guest.
