Dennis Farina to play Nick's father on 'New Girl'

We just met Jess’ parents; now here comes Nick’s dad.

Dennis Farina (“Get Shorty,” “Law and Order”) will play Walt Miller, the father of Nick (Jake Johnson) on “New Girl.”

The elder Miller will reappear mysteriously in Nick’s life and enlist him in some illegal-ish activities in the January episode. Those activities will ironically include going to a racetrack (Farina last starred in “Luck” on HBO).Roommate Jess (Zooey Deschanel) will reportedly be excited to meet Mr. Miller, and Nick’s childhood friend and roommate Winston (Lamorne Morris) will also be pleased by his reappearance.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner appeared in this week’s “New Girl” episode as Jess’ divorced parents, who Jess tried to “Parent Trap” for the umpteenth time to get them back together. At that time Nick told Jess he had a problem with dads, so it looks like we’ll soon find out why.

Olivia Munn (“Attack of the Show,” “Magic Mike”) has also recently been announced as making an appearance on a future episode of “New Girl.”

Farina has also appeared in “Miami Vice” as Albert Lombard; as well as “Saving Private Ryan,” “Snatch” and “What Happens in Vegas.”

“New Girl” airs at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesdays on Fox.
