The love affair of Cory and Topanga is officially set to continue.
Original "Boy Meets World" co-stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have reportedly been signed to reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and his long-time love Topanga Lawrence in the forthcoming Disney Channel sequel to the beloved sitcom, which ran from 1993 to 2000.
As has been previously reported, rumors began circulating about a potential sequel series and generated some significant nostalgic buzz. Now Disney appears to moving forward aggressively on "Girl Meets World," their follow up to the original that would follow Cory and Topanga's 13-year-old daughter as she navigates the same travails that her father did when he was entering young adulthood. Savage's character is set to follow in the footsteps of Mr. Feeny, becoming a history teacher at his daughter's school. Riley seems to take after her father, described in the casting call which circulated last week as "fiercely loyal to her friends, and spends most of her time juggling the obstacles that life throws her way... there is no obstacle in this girl's world that can dampen her bright spirit and eternal optimism."
The series had already roped in "Boy Meets World" creator and executive producer to put together the new series, which could have played a big role in bringing back his old leading actors.
With Cory and Topanga set to return, can Will Friedle and/or Rider Strong be far behind?
