'Arrow' casts former 'Alias' villain David Anders

The rogues gallery of everyone's favorite green-hooded vigilante just added a new face.

David Anders

David Anders has been brought on board the popular series to square off against Starling City's protector Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in episode 13. The actor will play Cyrus Vanch, career criminal fresh off a long stay in prison and eager to get back to his criminal activities.

Vanch's background and unrepentant nature initially puts him in the crosshairs of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), who turns to our hooded hero to take him down when the police are unable to get him off the streets. However, Vanch may already be targeting Queen's alter ego in an effort to prove himself to and take control of the criminal underworld.

Anders has made the rounds on various genre series, usually playing the big bad villain so his latest endeavor shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Arguably his most high profile role was as Sark on the J.J. Abrams/Jennifer Garner cult spy thriller "Alias," though he also won over many fans as Uncle John on The CW's "The Vampire Diaries." He can currently be seen on "Once Upon A Time" portraying the mysterious Dr. Frankenstein.

I absolutely loved Anders on "Alias" -- he has a knack for seedy villainy and seems like a perfect fit for "Arrow."
