Days after 'iCarly' aired its series finale (to 6.4 million viewers), Nickelodeon has announced a spinoff of that series and 'Victorious.'
'Sam & Cat,' will star Jennette McCurdy (iCarly's Sam Puckett) and Ariana Grande (Victorious' Cat Valentine). In the new show, their characters become unlikely roommates and start their own after-school babysitting service. Dan Schneider will serve as the series creator and executive produce.
Twenty episodes have been ordered, with production scheduled to begin in two months in Los Angeles for its 2013 premiere date.
“Jennette and Ariana are adored by our audience, and it’s great to unite these talented actresses in this hilarious new comedy from Dan Schneider," said Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon president of content development and production. “This show promises to deliver on what our audience loves most about these two favorite characters: laugh-out-loud humor and non-stop adventure.”
Schneider knows children's programing. He has created and executive produced 'iCarly,' 'Victorious,' 'Zoey 101,' 'The Amanda Show,' and 'Drake & Josh.' 'iCarly' aired for six seasons, while 'Victorious' finishes next year.
I am not sure if any of our readers fit the demographics that this show (as well as the others listed) shoot for. Have you ever seen ‘iCarly’ or ‘Victorious’? What do you make of this news?
Love iCarly and Victorious, two of my favorite shows around right now, can't wait for this spin-off. I've also heard about the Gibby spin-off which I would love to know more about down the line.
