Can you believe that 'Army Wives' on Lifetime is headed into its seventh season? Steady in the ratings, the loyal fanbase of the show has kept the series afloat--but as they head into season seven, they'll be losing series regular Kim Delaney (who played Claudia on the series). Along with Delaney's departure, Sally Pressman (who plays Roxanne) will be scaled back to a recurring role rather than a starring one... leaving the door open for some new blood.
Like other long-running series including 'The X-Files' and 'Scrubs,' 'Army Wives' is hoping that the show can add new characters and continue to be a success, despite the loss of an original main character. Today, Deadline.com reports about the three new names coming to the 'Army Wives' family with recurring roles.
Leading the trio of newcomers is Ashanti ('Resident Evil: Extinction') in her first ever starring television role. Ashanti will play Latasha Durant, an optimistic mother of three, a sexy, fun woman who knows how to keep a husband – and how to keep him in line.
Joining Ashanti is Torrey DeVitto ('Pretty Little Liars') who is known as Dr. Meredith Fell on 'Vampire Diaries.' DeVitto will play Maggie Hall, a sexy and smart Ex-Army Airborne, now a truck driver married to a Staff Sergeant with a teen daughter decided to get out of the Army to devote herself to being a wife and mother.
Rounding out the new group is Elle McLemore, an actress and stunt person with a few brief credits to her name. McLemore has previously had guest appearances on 'The Middle.' and 'Los Americans;' this will be her largest role to date. On 'Army Wives,' McLemore will play Holly Gordon, a sweet, wide-eyed, bespectacled farm girl newly married to a soldier who is lonely and homesick.
Filming on Season 7 will begin in mid-December in Charleston, South Carolina. 'Army Wives' airs on Lifetime.
