When 'Saved By The Bell' ended its run, who would have thought that Mario Lopez would be the one in 2012 to get the most media attention and work? I had nothing against Lopez' A.C. Slater, but he seemed like one of those stars teenagers love that fade away. How wrong I was. And how pissed Jessie Spano must be.
Lopez married Courtney Mazza Saturday in Punta Mita, Mexico. The couple had been dating for nearly five years and their two-year-old daugther Gia served as the flower girl (Eva Longoria was a bridesmaid). One-hundred and fifty guests joined the couple as they began their lives together officially.
Lopez, who hosts 'The X Factor' and cohosts 'Extra,' proposed to Courtney on New Year's Eve 2011, with an $80,000 ring.
“We took a walk alone as the sun was setting," Lopez recalled of the proposal. "I told Courtney that I wanted the mother of my children to have their last name. She was silent at first from shock, then she leaped for join and did a little jete!”
The wedding will be televised on TLC December 8 at 8 p.m. on 'Mario & Courtney's Wedding Fiesta.' Is anyone in Hollywood allowed to get married without a television special nowadays?
"I'm just a sidekick in it. My fiancée is the star," Lopez said. "I just want the wedding itself to be fun, just a blast, everybody to party and have fun and to go all night."
Congrats to the happy couple.
