Betty White’s not just celebrating a 90th birthday this week, she’s also celebrating the success of her sitcom “Hot in Cleveland.” TV Land just renewed the show for a fourth season according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Hot in Cleveland can thank White and her sudden (re-)popularity over the last couple years for high ratings. Though she is just one of the ensemble cast, the younger demographic loves her. The third season averaged 1.8 million viewers per episode and earned the show a People’s Choice Award.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that TV Land renewed Hot In Cleveland for a fourth season. This is the biggest product, aside from some cameos in major movies, that White has had in the last few years. Hot in Cleveland is so popular that a spinoff series is also in the works. The spinoff will revolve around Cedric the Entertainer as Rev. Boyce.
Cedric and Hot in Cleveland creator Suzanne Martin will write the script together for the weekly sitcom. The pilot was ordered last year and now is under production. “Cedric is hilarious and I’m so happy to do this show with him,” said Martin in April to The Hollywood Reporter. “We are going to have a lot of fun developing and exploring his role as a minister.”
Martin, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner will produce the show. Cedric played the sidekick in a number of films and of course on The Steve Harvey Show. Do you think he has what it takes to carry his own show?
