FX is set to blow the competition out of the water this January. Already announced for the month is the return of Charlie Sheen's 'Anger Management,' 'Archer," and the anticipated premier of new comedy 'Legit' on January 17. 'Justified' will also be returning for its fourth season on January 8.
Now the network has announced that January 30 will be the premiere of its new Cold War spy drama 'The Americans.' The series, which was given a 13-episode order in August, focuses on the marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in the Washington D.C. area shortly after Ronald Reagan's election to the presidency (so 1980/1981). Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) had an arranged marriage and two children together who know nothing about who their parents really are.
The relationship is tested as the Cold War escalates. The duo needs to tread choppy waters to maintain its network of informants under their control. The matter is complicated as Phillip grows to enjoy the American way of life - and then even more when a new neighbor, Stan (Noah Emmerich), moves in. Stan happens to be an FBI agent who is working to find counterintelligence units on U.S. soil, including Russian spies posing as Americans. Of course.
