30 Rock may be running the end of its course this season, but star Alec Baldwin is not straying far from the network responsible for the hit show. Today a rep confirmed that he, like co-star Tina Fey, signed a two-year overall deal with Universal Television.
According to the Universal Television rep Baldwin will develop and produce TV projects for the company. He has potential to also star in projects as well. This is a bit of a surprise as the comedian recently shared that he planned to take a break from entertainment after his 30 Rock stint.
After a series of run-ins with paparazzi and other less-than-flattering news, it's no surprise that he wanted to be out of the spotlight for awhile. However, maybe his way of staying out of the spotlight is heading behind-the-scenes. Some would suggest that he's even hinted at political aspirations in the heat of the latest presidential election. With a new baby and wife he also said that he wants a "normal life." A normal life does include a job, so maybe producing is the perfect fit for him.
Though Baldwin signed a two-year deal, Fey signed a four-year deal. This is an extension of her time with the company since joining as a writer for Saturday Night Live in 1997. She recently hit her 15 year anniversary with NBC.
