Cougar Town fans can take a deep, calming breathe. ABC confirmed the show will return in just a few weeks. According to TV Guide, Cougar Town will return on Feb. 14 at the 8:30/7:30c time slot.
Fans were beginning to think the show would never return, especially when producers announced they were putting promotion into their own hands. Yes, the writers were ready to tour the country with the season three premiere to draw interest in the show. ABC assured fans all along that it was never a question if the show was getting canceled or not. “We have a good launch pad for it,” ABC President Paul Lee had said earlier. “We didn’t have a place earlier on, but when it comes, we hope it will do extremely well.”
The Courtney Cox-sitcom was one of ABC’s biggest shows its first season, but declined in ratings over the sophomore season. Happy Endings took its time slot at 9:30/8:30c because the rookie comedy pulled in more ratings after Modern Family.
Lucky for Cougar Town, ABC has a spot on the schedule after both Man Up and Work It failed after Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing. Work It lasted only two episodes before ABC pulled the plug. The true question is, how will Cougar Town do in this time slot? The two comedies draw a different type of audiences. It’s undeniable that Cougar Town is also a little more risqué than Last Man Standing. Ratings will likely come down to fan loyalty.
On Feb. 14 fans can expect the episode “Love Ain’t Strange.” Jules is angry when Grayson calls her predictable. While she’s trying to prove him wrong, Elie fears that Stan is developing into a “devil child.” Are you excited for the return of Cougar Town?
