The Twittershere is finally calmed down after ripping apart Lifetime's 'Liz & Dick' film about Elizabeth Taylor that starred Lindsay Lohan. To say the film received less-than-stellar reviews would be putting it mildly, as critics ripped the film apart left and right. The film was Lohan's first major role in many years and it seems like most everyone would be okay without seeing her for many more.
It did well it the ratings though, as it is the fourth-highest rated TV movie of the year. Nancy Dubuc, A&E Networks president of entertainment and media (who oversees Lifetime), defended the film.
"You can't take a risk like that and not draw criticism, and we knew that going in," Dubuc said she would do the film all over again with any hesitation. "We couldn't have bought the buzz that we got. The idea that all of these people were talking about Lifetime? I'll take that.
"I'm not a very patient person," she added. "I'll take those quick risks to see if it's going to work versus taking the long and tortuous road of trying to guarantee myself that something will work. That's like self-mutilation to me. Either it will or it won't, and I'm not afraid to say I made the wrong call."
There is talk that Lifetime might make a second Taylor filming, with Lohan starring. Would you watch?
