Everyone’s favourite conservative television and radio personality Glenn Beck (can you feel the sarcasm leaking off the screen…) will be using his Internet TV network TheBlaze to host a new reality series that will be called “Pursuit of Truth”…with Vince Vaughn. If you are still reading and interested, while this may seem like a bizarre matchup, Vaughn has expressed in the past his conservative beliefs and recently showed his support of conservative candidate Ron Paul in both the 2008 and 2012 elections. They will combine Beck’s network (TheBlaze) with Vaughn’s production company (Wild West Prods.) to create the competition reality series.
“Pursuit of Truth” will be a competition show where aspiring filmmakers are grappling one another for the opportunity to get financing to create a documentary film. The grand prize will include worldwide distribution of their documentary. Contestants may be asked to complete interviews, pitch scenes from their ideas to a panel or create reels as part of the show.
Beck commented Wednesday on his radio show that Vaughn and he seemed to be an unlikely pair in the eyes of America. "I am proud to announce that Vince Vaughn and I are going to be the executive producers," Beck said. "That should make everybody's head spin. What the hell is Vince Vaughn doing with a crazy man? I know, that's what my friends say. Glenn, what are you doing with the crazy man Vince Vaughn? Yes. It's great, isn't it? I love it."
Beck certainly seems very high spirited about the project, as is his third partner in this, “A Christmas Story” star, and more recently producer for Wild West, Peter Billingsly. “Our goal is to create a powerful annual platform to help filmmakers tell important and engaging stories.”
Filmmakers can submit their work at the new show's website until January 31. The show will air in the spring.
