A “Star Trek” favorite and Jay and Silent Bob will soon help crown the “King of the Nerds.”

TBS’ reality competition debuts Thursday, Jan. 17, at 10 p.m. ET.
“Star Trek’s” George Takei, along with filmmaker Kevin Smith and his muse Jason Mewes will be among guest judges for the new show.
“Revenge of the Nerds” alumni Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong will host the program, which pits 11 competitors in challenges testing their “intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture prowess.”
Competitors will work as teams before competing in individual challenges to win a $100,000 prize.
Guest judges like Takei, Smith and Mewes will decide the team challenge winners. Those challenges include a superhero debate, cosplay competition and “nerd anthem” contests.
Smith and Mewes appeared together in cult films such as “Clerks” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back.” Smith is also a noted comic book enthusiast. Takei has also booked a guest appearance on “Hawaii Five-0.”
Nerd has been the word for TBS as of late, as you can hardly turn the network on without seeing a rerun of “Big Bang Theory.” We’ll see how this reality show works out for them.
JaSBSB isn't cult. Mallrats, sir.
"Noted Comic book enthusiast"? He owns his own comic store, has a podcast AND tvshow about the store/comics in general. Not sure the writer of this article has any idea what he's talking about.
