Gale Anne Hurd is the Executive Producer of one of the biggest television dramas of all time, 'The Walking Dead.' Now, her follow-up has been snapped up by USA network, who have ordered a cast-contingent pilot for the WWII sci-fi project 'Horizon.'
'Horizon' is about an FBI secretary who finds out that her husband may have been killed in a battle with a spaceship while in the South Pacific. She becomes obsessed with finding out the truth. Eventually the unnamed secretary gets in too deep, becoming the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion.
As noted, the pilot order is cast-contingent, but I can't imagine Hurd will have any trouble finding willing talent to fill the project. Considering what 'The Walking Dead' has done for its cast, having taken supporting actors and turned them into stars, I'd wager Hurd's phoneline is very busy these days with agents calling about their female talent and 'Horizon.'
Hurd will Executive Produce the hour-long genre drama, with Bridget Tyler ('Burn Notice') writing the pilot. "'Horizon' is our first genre piece since 'The 4400' and the first ever period drama for the network," said a statement issued by USA network co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber. "This signals the next step in the evolution of our programming brand."
There's no denying that Hurd's involvement makes this a very exciting project. Who would you like to see cast in 'Horizon?'
