It’s pilot season and SyFy is on the hunt for its next big hit. The cable network confirmed it ordered a two-hour pilot titled “Rewind.” The action thriller follows military personnel and civilian scientists who travel back in time to recreate events to avoid a devastating terrorist attack. The network has not confirmed who stars in the action thriller, but they are excited for the upcoming project.
BermanBraun and Universal Cable Productions are behind the project. “We couldn’t be happier to be back in business with BermanBraun,” SyFy’s President of Original Content Mark Stern said in a press release. “Justin Marks has created a time-travel series with an exciting innovative approach that really exemplifies SyFy’s commitment to bring compelling storytelling to life.”
Gail Berman, Tom Spezialy, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein are attached to the project as executive producers. “Rewind” will start production in April, just like SyFy’s other new drama “Defiance.”
“Defiance” follows the life of a man working as a lawman in a world where aliens and humans try to co-exist. He lost his family in an alien attack and continues to look for meaning of his existence. “Rewind” may hit a little closer to home for most SyFy viewers. In a time when terrorism is at its highest, it’s likely “Rewind” will leave viewers wonder “What if you could just go back?” or “What would life be like if 9-11 didn’t happen?”
No word on when “Rewind” will make its way to the schedule, likely in the fall. Will you be tuning into “Rewind?” Do you think it has a better chance than “Defiance?”
