"Girls" creator and star Lena Dunham's $3.7 million book proposal leaks online

Back in October, the creator and star of the hit HBO series “Girls” sold a 66-page book proposal to Random House for a total of $3.7 million. This 66-page proposal, with illustrations included, has been obtained by Gawker and has been leaked online!

From the looks of it, Dunham has modelled her book after legendary Cosmo editor Helen Gurley Brown’s book “Having It All”. In her book Brown coined the phrase “having it all” and told single women that they could have everything they wanted and more: the career, the family and “guilt-free sex”. Dunham appears to be going after much of the same idea and style. In her proposal readers are offered a very personal glimpse into the life of Dunham in her typical no holds barred and in your face fashion.

The book will be a collection of essays which she has called “Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned”. Some quotes grabbed from the proposal give a feel for the kind of inside look and advice Dunham will offer to her readers:

•"Every ice pop I ate, every movie I watched, every poem I wrote was tinged with a fearful loss."

•"I went to my first Women's Action Coalition meeting at age three."

•"Cassie was a very fat girl we knew who we had nicknamed fat Cassie because she also wasn't that nice."

If you want to take a better look at the proposal, you can visit here.

What do you think? Does the book interest you at all? Do you think the leak will help or hurt Dunham’s books success?
