Katherine Heigl left Grey’s Anatomy two years ago when she adopted her daughter, Naleigh. At the time rumors flew that she and writers were at war after comments she made at the Emmy’s. Heigl was written off the show, but the a-list star now admits to E! News that she wants back on the show that made her a household name.
“I’ve told them I want to [come back],” she said. “Being a show runner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated ...how many characters are there now? There’s a lot and so creator and executive producer Shonda rhimes is balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits into their sort of vision for this season or next or however many season it goes.”
Heigl made her mark on TV as Dr. Izzie Stevens, she even won an Emmy in 2007 for her performance on the show. In 2010 writers divorced her from husband Alex and fired her character from Seattle’s Grace.
Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly shortly after the decision that she was originally going to kill Izzie off the show, but decided she wanted to leave the option open to bring Izzie back to the show in the future.
“I really, really want to see where Izzie is,” Heigl added. “I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now.” Fans of Grey’s Anatomy would probably agree. With some of the storylines drying up, maybe it’s time to bring Izzie back.
Do you think Grey’s Anatomy should bring Izzie back for a season or at least one episode?
