Anne Hathaway criticizes photographers during 'Today' appearance

Hathaway

There are certain risks associated with celebrity. Some of them may not be fair or right, but they still exist.

Anne Hathaway found out about one of them Monday at the New York premiere of 'Les Miserables,' when she exited a vehicle wearing a dress that fell in just the right way to expose more of Anne than she intended. The tragedy of all this could have been avoided if Hathaway could afford underwear. The pictures quickly spread all over the internet. You will excuse me for not sharing a copy of the photo - I would rather not be fired today.

Hathaway talked to Vanity Fair about the photos, saying that she “was getting out of the car, and my dress was so tight that I didn’t realize it until I saw all the photographers’ flashes. It was devastating. They saw everything. I might as well have lifted up my skirt for them.”

This morning Hathaway went on NBC's 'Today' and criticized the photographers for invading her privacy. After apologizing to Matt Lauer for the photos, she called the incident "unfortunate" and said it made her "sad."

“I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of someone in a vulnerable moment and rather than delete it and do the decent thing, sells it,” she said. “And I’m sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, which brings us back to Les Mis, because that’s what my character is. She’s someone who is forced to sell sex to benefit her child because she has nothing and there’s no social safety net.”

What do you think about this? Is she right?

She is also continuing to do a woderful job of publicising the Les Mis that she is currently performing in! I wonder how the box office is doing this week!?

Nothing like a well placed gash flash, then whingeing about the fallout on an international forum, to draw attention to oneself.

A few years ago she was a 'Golden' starlet, doing Disney pics, and other studio features. I'm guessing that her career is pretty much in the toilet now becuse the only time I really hear about her is on Celebrity-centric porn sites...

Yes, it is unfortunate that Celebs continue to refute their resposibility to the public face they deliver. If I went down the street and dropped my cock out for all to see I would be:

  1. Arrested.
  2. Charged with Public Indecency.
  3. If it was in front of minors there would also be a Paedeophilia charge.
  4. Minimum Fined and possibly incarcerated.
  5. Have a Police Record.

So, to avoid all that, I try, wherever possible, to keep my cock in my pants.

So why have Anne Hathaway, Madonna, (all of) The Pussycat Dolls, Pink...etc. etc. not been pursued legally for their 'crimes' against Public Decency. It's not like there is no proof...

Note to all celebs: If you don't want to do the time, DON't commit the crime.

What she should have said and what would have made it right: "I was very sad that we live in an age when someone talentless but cute-faced like me is being paid so much money for nothing, and I’m sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality". Alas, she's just a stupid overpaid cunt like many others in Hollywood. Yes, I am jealous - don't we all want to get lot of money for nothing? (aka being yourself, aka "acting" LOL).

Don't dress like a slut, won't look like a slut.  Moving on from this ugly celeb story.

I agree with the comments so far. Does it suck that female celebrities have to deal with scumbag photographers trying to photograph their naughty bits all the time? Most definitely. But common sense would dictate that the whole thing could be avoided by wearing underwear.

I think actresses have to consider this a real possibility when they head out now. If they don't want to wear panties, they run the risk.

Was it scummy? Yes. But like it's been said, it could have been easily avoided with a simple pair of panties. It's a situation where you have to share some of the weight of responsibility.
