"American Idol" Kelly Clarkson engaged

“American Idol” sweetheart and season one winner Kelly Clarkson is ready to tie the knot! Clarkson took to her Twitter account yesterday to share the good news, tweeting to her fans “I’M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever J”. Aww, it sounds like she is sincerely excited for this new chapter in her life. You know how the saying goes, “First comes winning American Idol and multiple successful records, then comes marriage…” will there be a baby in a baby carriage next?

Clarkson has been dating her now fiancé Brandon Blackstock since February of 2012. Blackstock is a talent manager, and is Reba McEntire’s stepson. Clarkson and Blackstock have known each other for years but started dating after Clarkson sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl in February. Apparently things are going very well – less than a year later and they are ready to plan a wedding.

Clarkson has not been shy about sharing how happy she feels in her relationship and has admitted that it is even affecting her song writing. "I'm trying to write a tough song and it is coming out like butterflies and rainbows," she said.

Oh, and if you are wondering about the ring, it is “A yellow canary diamond with diamonds around it and Brandon designed it with Johnathon Arndt! They did an amazing job! I can't wait to make Brandon's ring with Johnathon as well."

I wish them the very best. Clarkson will be performing tonight on the “VH1 Divas” concert hosted by fellow “Idol” alumni Adam Lambert, which will honor Donna Summers and Whitney Houston’s 2012 deaths.
