'Supernatural's Rob Benedict to guest on 'The Mentalist'

Rob Benedict is best known for his recurring role on 'Supernatural' as Chuck Shurley, the Prophet of the Lord who was writing the Gospel of Winchester. Since his tenure on CW's hit drama, Benedict has amassed an impressive array of guest appearances on hit television shows--the latest being an upcoming appearance on an episode of 'The Mentalist' on CBS. He will play Paul Friedman, an adjunct professor and PhD candidate who works in the same lab where a student was murdered.

Presently amidst its fifth season, 'The Mentalist' is a proven ratings hit for the Eye network. The episodic nature of the series makes 'The Mentalist' quite an attractive feather in the cap of potential guest stars, along the same lines as 'Psych' and 'NCIS: Los Angeles,' both of which Benedict has appeared on over the past two years. Rounding out his list of guest roles since 'Supernatural' are 'Law & Order: Los Angeles,' 'Svetlana,' 'Shameless,' and 'Touch.' What that means is, chances are you've seen Benedict on your television screen at some point.

Rob Benedict is the brother of Amy Benedict, an actress who has appeared on 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Torchwood.' The pair both attended the same University to study performance art, leading them to their mirrored acting careers in Hollywood.

Rob Benedict's episode of 'The Mentalist' is entitled "Red in Tooth and Claw" and is slated to air in February. 'The Mentalist' airs Sundays at 10:00pm ET on CBS.
