'The Office' may not be funny anymore, but they can still pull in the big names.
Julius Erving, none other than basketball legend "Dr J," will be appearing on an upcoming episode of the NBC comedy. Erving will play himself opposite 'The Office's Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) in an episode about Jim's fledgling Sports Marketing business he's attempting to launch in Philadelphia.
Dr. J is no stranger to Philadelphia, the city where he won one of his Most Valuable Player awards as a member of the 76ers. In the episode, the sixty-two year old star becomes an investor in Jim's new Sports Marketing business; quite a "get" for the young CEO.
In 1993, Erving was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Dr J is credited as helping to usher in the modern era of basketball (including dunking and playing above the rim) as well as helping to legitimate the American Basketball Association so that it could successfully merge with the NBA in 1976.
And as you can see from the photo below, the Doctor still has the hops.
Erving's episode will air January 17 on NBC.
