Last week we reported that Oxygen confirmed that The Glee Project will return this summer for a second season. The reality show follows 14 performers with dreams of appearing on the Fox sitcom. According to TV Guide, one Glee cast member is making a big appearance during the second season of The Glee Project.
Lea Michele will appear as a mentor during the season premiere on Oxygen. As one of the biggest stars to come from Glee, Lea Michele is the perfect example of what casting directors are looking for. She plays Rachel Berry, a depiction that earned her an Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations throughout four seasons.
The Glee Project is currently filming its second season, searching the country for the next big star. Throughout the season, the contestants will complete tasks and workshops before performing to prove they have what it takes for a recurring role on Glee. Two contestants will win a seven episode run, while two runner-ups will appear on two episodes of the dramedy.
Casting director Ryan Murphy, choreographer Zach Woodlee and vocal coach Nikki Anders reprise their roles on the reality show. The only change from last year is 14 contestants are fighting for the prize, not 12.
Oxygen has not confirmed the exact premiere date, but it’s likely to be released within the next couple weeks as the network sets the summer schedule. President Jason Klarman said in a statement that the competition is an important part of Oxygen’s schedule. “The Glee Project is a special show that has tapped into a desire in our culture to watch people go for an achieve their dreams.”
