In three days, a new 3D film called "Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away" releases. That is not the only big news for Cirque du Soleil though, as a new partnership has been announced with Canadian company Bell Media, which will see the Montreal-based Bell helped Cirque create film, TV, digital and gaming content for a worldwide audience.
Jacque Méthé, Bell Media president, joined the company after serving time as an executive producer at Cirque du Soleil, which is based out of Quebec. His new company will have access to Cirque's considerable library and current projects it is working on, such as the Paramount film following its theatrical run.
One of the projects that will be created out of the new set-up is a Canadian Christmas TV special, which will look at the joint venture and the release of "Worlds Away."
“Cirque du Soleil and Bell Media together can deliver more incredible content to more consumers than ever before,” said Bell Media president Kevin Crull.
“With Cirque du Soleil Media, we are defining a new type of creative platform for Cirque du Soleil combined with the expertise and commitment of Bell Media,” said Daniel Lamarre, president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil.
Good news for Cirque. They are a tremendous outfit and I have had the privilege of seeing them in person a few times and been completely enthralled at their art.
