An “American Pie” star is feeling foxy.
Natasha Lyonne, who guest starred on Showtime’s “Weeds” series finale, is set to star in a comedy loosely based on her life on Fox.
Stella (Lyonne) is fresh out of rehab and trying to start a new, sober life on the show. She moves in with her conservative brother and his family.
Alex Barnow and Marc Firek (“Rules of Engagement” and “Mr. Sunshine”) will write and exec produce the project. Fox has given the show a script commitment.
In association with Sony Pictures Television, Lyonne will star and produce the 3 Arts Entertainment effort.
Lyonne has had her share of trouble in the years since the original “American Pie” film. She was arrested for DUI in 2001; pleaded guilty for drunk driving which got her probation and her license suspended. Lyonne also took part in court- ordered drug program.
Lyonne will also appear in Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black.”
Semi- autobiographical vehicles are all the rage this development season. “Private Practice’s” Kate Walsh, “Community’s” Donald Glover and Rachel Zoe also have similar projects in the works.
Lyonne is represented by APA, 3 Arts Entertainment and Schreck Rose.
