The third season of NBC's popular singing competition The Voice came to an end on Tuesday, with a finale that included appearances from many popular musicians such as Smokey Robinson, Peter Frampton, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, The Killers, Avril Lavigne, and yes, the show's judges as well. It was a veritable feast for fans of pop music.
But the real focus of the night wasn't on the multitude of performances, but rather on the three who had already performed: finalists Terry McDermott, Cassadee Pope, and Nicholas David. The winner, announced at the end of the show's two-hour finale, was Cassadee Pope, a rather unsurprising choice. McDermott grabbed second place, while the third place slot went to Nicholas David.
But while the series crowned a winner for its third season on Tuesday night, it also bid goodbye to two judges: Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green made their final appearance as judges on tonight's show -- they will be replaced by Usher and Shakira come season 4. The two joined remaining judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for a live performance of Green Day's "Time of Your Life." As part of his farewell, "Saint Cee Lo" got into the Christmas spirit and bestowed a new car upon each of the three finalists.
What do you think about the outcome of The Voice? Are you happy with Pope's victory, or would you rather have seen McDermott or David claim the prize instead?
Season 4 of The Voice will premiere in spring 2013.
