NBC has finalized deals on a comedy project from showrunner Victor Fresco ('Better Off Ted,' 'Man Up') which will star none other than 'Will & Grace' favorite Sean Hayes. Hayes, who has more recently appeared as Walter on 'Up All Night' and as Larry Fine in the unfortunate 'The Three Stooges' remake, will play a character named Sean who must figure out how to parent his fourteen year old daughter.
In the untitled comedy project, Sean's daughter just moved in with him (implying that her mother is out of the picture) and he must learn to be a single father while also navigating a tempermental new boss at his (unspecified) job.
Bob Greenblatt from NBC has been seeking a way to put Hayes back in front of his cameras for some time. "Sean is a friend, and I think it’s time for him to star in a comedy again," said Greenblatt last summer. Greenblatt previously prepared a project for Hayes that failed to be picked up during last year's pilot season; now, with Fresco at the helm, NBC hopes for a better result.
Along with this project, Hayes has a recurring role on the upcoming season of 'Smash,' where he will reunite with 'Will & Grace' leading lady Debra Messing.
What would you call a show about Hayes raising a rebellious fourteen-year-old girl while trying to please an overbearing boss? I'd call it 'Aint Misbehavin.'
...there are many reasons I am not a showrunner.
