ABC has faith in Jimmy Kimmel. 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' is making the move to 11:35pm ET, placing the talk show in direct competition with 'The Tonight Show' and 'The Late Show.' Beginning on January 8, 2013, Kimmel will find himself in the fray; it would seem the series is prepared to come out swinging.
The guests on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on January 8th, the first episode at the new timeslot, will be Jennifer Aniston and the band No Doubt, because apparently it is 1997 again. Aniston, who has three feature films slated for a 2013 release, will kick off a month of big-name celebrity guest stars.
Upcoming guests that were announced today include: Jamie Foxx, Mark Wahlberg, Ryan Gosling, Sofia Vergara, Ellen DeGeneres, Rob Lowe, Amy Brenneman, Nicki Minaj, Mindy Kaling, Julie Bowen, Naomi Watts, and Kim and Kourtney Kardashian.
Aside from No Doubt, upcoming musical guests include Brad Paisley, Bruno Mars and LeAnn Rimes.
'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' has seen a steady growth in ratings and viewership each and every year the talk show has been on the air; no small feat in a very competitive marketplace. ABC believes that forty-four year-old Kimmel can skew to a younger audience than David Letterman and Jay Leno, cornering a very lucrative market at 11:35pm ET.
Earlier this year, Kimmel also signed a two-year contract extension with ABC. It seems the network is prepared to give 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' the chance to take over the big boys. Best of luck to Kimmel as he injects himself into an age-old rivalry!
