I went back and forth on whether I should even do a write-up for last night, since our close proximity to Christmas lead to only two shows airing new episodes. Then again, next week will probably be dead entirely, so I might as well finish out this one. That said, FOX won both the 18-49 demo and total viewer battles. That happens when you have no real competition.
Speaking of which, The X-Factor matched last week. NBC aired a hodgepodge of programming, with the 2012 Miss Universe contest kicking off the night, and rising a decent amount from last year. This helped Chicago Fire rise up half a ratings point to a 1.9, which would still be considered a bad number for any of the big four networks other than NBC.
ABC aired a Katie Couric hosted year end special (which went up a tick from last year), and a bunch of comedy re-runs. CBS broadcast a Rascal Flatts holiday special, which didn't do well. This was followed by two re-runs of procedurals. And the CW showed a movie. So yeah, the night was a snoozer.
