Mattel announces 1960s 'Batman' action figure line

Batman & RobinEarlier this year, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros reached an agreement regarding the licensing of the cult classic 1960s 'Batman' live-action series. Fans of the show rejoiced, believing that the long-awaited DVD and BluRay release of the series would be announced any day after! Alas, I am not yet here to announce that the DVD release is imminent, however this news is pretty cool as well:

Mattel just announced the 2013 launch of a 'Batman' action figure line, based on the 1960s series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.

Would the action figure line be on its way if a DVD release wasn't also in the works? It stands to reason that this announcement is a very good sign portending things to come.

Adam West donned the legendary cape & cowl as Bruce Wayne and his dynamic alter ego Batman, along with his trusty side-kick Robin (Burt Ward) watching his back. Fans of this classic show are a legion of thousands, keeping the cult following of the series alive over forty-five years since its debut. Any cosplayer Batman's roguesworth his salt has seen a classic Dynamic Duo representation at a convention over the years, as the campy, nutty, hilarious side of Batman has remained a part of Americana throughout the decades.

Along with the announcement of the 'Batman' 1960s toy line, Mattel also announced the continuation of the DC Super Friends toy line, a cartoonish toy series that features many of the biggest names in the DC Comics universe.

Which characters from the upcoming line of figures are you most excited about? They'd better be planning to release a Batmobile, I tell you whut...

Unfortunately, no.  You mentioned the agreement that Fox and Warner Bros came to earlier this year; sadly, that was only for the likeness of Adam, Burt and the others.  No agreement has yet been made for getting the series on DVD.  More info at www dot tvshowsondvd dot com/news/Batman-Variety-Story-About-Warner-Licensing-Deal/17060 , particularly in the update at the bottom. (I *still* can't post links, so replace the obvious)
