MTV, perhaps emboldened by the world not ending today, has announced its host for April’s MTV Movie Awards.

The station is perhaps hoping Rebel Wilson, who was in “Bridesmaids” for a cup of coffee, will really take off between now and then.
The Australian Wilson also recently appeared in raunchy film “Bachelorette” and “Pitch Perfect,” about a cappella singing groups.
The announcement was made during the “Jersey Shore” finale.
Russell Brand (“Get Him to the Greek,” “Brand X,” Jason Sudeikis (“Saturday Night Live”), Aziz Ansari (“Parks and Recreation”), Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”), Mike Myers (“SNL,” “Austin Powers” series”), and Sarah Silverman.
Wilson will appear in Chris Colfer’s “Struck By Lightning,” and with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg soon in “Pain & Gain.” She also sold an untitled comedy pitch to Universal in October.
The MTV Movie Awards were first awarded in 1992. The show has often been recorded and aired a few days later. The show is a little more offbeat than most award shows, and has awarded fictional characters like Godzilla, Chewbacca and Keanu Reeves (just kidding on that last one).
The event will be held Sunday, April 14. Wilson will serve as master of ceremonies.
