E! has purchased a small- town drama from the executive producer of ABC’s “Switched at Birth.”

“Shoreline” is being written by Carolyn Ingber (“The Mentalist”). Becky Hartman Edwards (“Switched at Birth”) is exec producing.
“Shoreline” centers on the “golden child” of a small South Caroline town. They return back to the town and see that “The Shore Line Yacht Club,” a big soap opera, is now the major employer there. Despite the differences between those working on the show and the townies, they all have to co- exist.
The show is being produced by Fox TV Studios.
Edwards also has a small- town soap beside this one that she is writing. That one would potential be for NBC, E!’s sibling network. It would be produced by Sony TV and Olive Bridge Entertainment.
Edwards’ credits include “Living Single,” “Life on Mars,” and a couple of episodes of “Parenthood.”
E!, which was launched back in 1990, is expanding its reality- driven programming lineup to include scripted fare under the network’s new leadership. There will also be “Gallerina,” an art gallery drama, from Mark Waters and Mike Tollin, its producers.
E! is owned by NBCUniversal.
