The Muppets was one of the highest grossing family films this fall. How I Met Your Mother star Jason Segel co-wrote the script with Nick Stoller, a very funny comedian and director that few know about. Stoller and Segel have a strong history as friends having appeared on Undeclared together.
Stoller is returning to television after a string of major film successes (such as directing Segel-starring “Forgetting Sarah Marshall), developing a sitcom for CBS. The untitled comedy series is a dramatization of Stoller’s real life. Filmed as a single camera documentary-style show, the story follows a 20-something man who gets his heart trampled on and has to work two cubicles away from his ex-girlfriend at an ad agency.
CBS ordered a pilot, with executive producers Katherine Pope and Peter Chernin attached to the project. No word on who will star in the untitled show or if its intended for the fall schedule or not.
Segel on the other hand, recently told reporters at TCA winter preview that he plans to stick with How I Met Your Mother until the end of the series. Though How I Met Your Mother is not canceled or in limbo, it’s likely the show will end sooner rather than later since fans are getting anxious awaiting to find out who the mother is. Until then expect Segel to be appearing around the country with the slew of girls proclaiming their love over You Tube (well at least if they’re lucky like Chelsea Gill).
