Will a former teen pop star be pushed out of Fox's “X Factor?”
“US Weekly” started the speculation that Britney Spears will be fired after only one season judging.
The former teen star joined “X Factor” in May as a replacement for Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. She was making $15 million, but reportedly judge and co- creator Simon Cowell didn’t feel they got their money’s worth. Demi Lovato also joined as a judge.
Cowell apparently was hoping for more head shaving and umbrella swinging out of Spears. "He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney," US Weekly’s source said.
L.A. Reid also announced that he will not return to the show for its third season, and instead wants to focus on his Epic Records chairman job.
Season two of “X Factor” concluded last week. Thirty- seven year old country crooner Tate Stevens won the competition. He defeated runner up Carly Rose Sonenclar and third place group Fifth Harmony. That win netted Stevens a $5 million recording contract, so it’s not like the show’s producers are exactly stingy. He will also have a Pepsi- produced music video premiering at the 2013 Grammy Awards broadcast Feb. 10.
