2012 was a year of peaks and valleys on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live.' Presidential election years usually do pretty well on the show, but this election seemed to not draw the level of hilarity that the previous one did (we miss you, Sarah Palin!). In addition, Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig left the series - two of the most beloved "players" of the last decade.
Overall I would call it a solid, if unspectacular season. Which sketches drew the best viewership on Hulu? The five most popular clips on Hulu were (the sketches can be seen at this link):
5. “The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party”
Featuring an 'SNL' newcomer in Cecily Strong who seems to have a bright future on the series, the character has become a Weekend Update mainstay, where poor Seth Meyers has to deal with her views on the world.
4. “Puppet Class”
Seth MacFarlane's hosting received pretty favorable reviews. In one of the sketches, he performed as a puppet class instructor but was overshadowed by Bill Hader's Vietnam War veteran puppet Tony.
3. “Lazy Sunday 2″
A week after celebrating their 100th digital short, the Lonely Island boys bid farewell to the series with a rehash of (arguably) their most beloved sketch. They sure do love Rachel McAdams, huh?
2. “Undecided Voter”
I never understand how people can be undecided so late in a presidential election. This sketch dealt with these voters in a funny manner.
1. “Disney Housewives”
Lindsay Lohan’s train wreck life was parodied perfectly here. No complaints with this positioning.
